Paid Leave Workshop Manager

PL+US is a bold advocacy organization with a single mission: win paid family leave for everyone in the United States. Our strategy layers public advocacy and accountability campaigns with state-of-the-art communications and digital grassroots engagement to win ambitious solutions for working people in the United States.

We have a new program called the Family Leave Workshop to help 1000 people win paid leave policies at their workplaces next year. We are looking for an entrepreneurial person to manage and grow the program next year. You will identify partners and marketing strategies to recruit participants, run trainings (online and in-person), and provide support to help people win.

About our ideal candidate:

  • You have experience working within a business setting. Workshop participants are typically mid - to high-level executives and professional working people, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working with and communicating to people in business settings.
  • You are great at building relationships with the new partners to bring new participants into the program.
  • You have experience developing and running training programs. This position includes bringing our workshop program to scale, which means producing 4-5 workshop trainings via webinar and in person each month.
  • You love working with people. You are excited to provide ongoing, 1 on 1 support to training participants who are working to expand the paid family leave policies within their own workplaces.
  • You’re meticulous with high attention to detail and accuracy. You must be able to track the progress of 100s of workshop participants, and provide timely, appropriate follow up.
  • You’re a domain expert (or excited to become one). This role will require deep knowledge and understanding of paid family leave HR processes and procedures, relevant state and local laws, and broad understanding of legal issues related to paid family leave implementation.
  • You have a deep commitment to equity and inclusion.  You understand why it’s problematic that companies offer men less paid leave than women. You get why the fact that FMLA doesn’t apply to siblings and grandparents can especially hurt communities of color. When you hear “family leave for everyone in the United States,” you understand the deep community engagement and fundamental issue re-centering necessary to achieve that goal. You have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and anti-oppression.
  • You’re experienced and successful in a startup environment.  You’re excited about partnering deeply with a small team to create something new, and you love the rapid learning and growth that happens in a startup environment. You know how to build efficient and lasting systems.

The Portfolio:

  • Produce Paid Leave Workshop webinars and trainings 
      • Prepare and present weekly Paid Leave Workshop webinars and in-person workshop sessions
      • Customize Paid Leave Workshop content to participant needs
      • Identify and arranging for development of additional workshop materials
      • Recruit and prepare featured speakers for webinars

 

  • Build and maintain relationships with workshop participants
      • Hold regular coaching sessions with participants
      • Track participant progress in advocating for expanded paid family leave policies
      • Develop leadership among workshop participants
  • Manage outreach and recruitment for workshop participants
  • Identify and work with partners on workshops
  • Work with digital marketing pros to recruit new participants

Terms: This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with a salary range of $68K - $75K annually. Our generous benefits include unlimited vacation and sick time, and up to 6 months of paid parental leave.
