PL+US is a bold new organization with a single mission: win paid family leave for everyone in the United States. Our strategy includes workplace transformation, political interventions, culture work, and, most importantly, building an army of advocates who are ready to fight - and win - paid family leave in their workplaces, in their communities, and nationwide.

We’re looking for an inspired, strategic, detail-oriented, project management expert to serve as our inaugural Development Manager. In this role, you’ll bring our individual and institutional fundraising to the next level and help us build and manage the systems that will allow us to scope, pursue, and secure donations from a wide variety of supporters.

This is a perfect role for an individual who has learned the ropes and is ready to spread their wings and grow with a new, dynamic and inspired team that’s in it to win.

  • Collaborate with our digital team to build an online grassroots donor base to increase donations each year.
  • Support our board in individual fundraising efforts.
  • Working with our event producer, leverage events as donor cultivation opportunities and ensure excellent guest tracking and follow through.
  • Working with communications staff, create and maintain “house party kit” and other fundraising marketing materials.

Institutional Donors

  •     Research prospective foundation and institutional funding opportunities to develop and expand a strong grant pipeline
  •     With the Chief of Staff, manage the full lifecycle of grants and institutional funders, including but not limited to, stewarding funders and keeping them informed, tracking deadlines, writing and submitting letters of intent, proposals, and reports, and pulling data for reporting purposes

Fundraising Operations

  • Ensure the timely and accurate maintenance of our donor and donation data.
  • Working with our Finance Director, produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on development goals and progress.
  • Process donations and gift acknowledgement letters accurately and in a timely manner and assist with fulfillment of donor and sponsor benefits
  • Support with year end fundraising and annual fundraising and appreciation campaigns through mailings, donor recognition, and drafting campaign correspondence
  • Support with major fundraising events; including but not limited to managing ticket sales, highlighting sponsors, day-of-logistics, and post-event follow-up
  • Maintain and support PL+US presence on third party fundraising platforms.
  • Manage relationships with vendors like Square and ActBlue.

  • 3+ years of work experience with demonstrated success in fundraising and relationship management.
  • Superb project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and strong research skills.
  • Self-starter, strong work ethic, results-oriented and deadline driven.
  • Team player, ability to motivate a team to engage in and support fundraising.
  • Skilled in Google Apps, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar donor database.
  • A deep commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • You’re kind, to others and to yourself.  We’re building a team that’s smart, fun, fast, supportive, passionate, and collaborative. That starts with people who are truly delighted and challenged by the work, and know how to bring their best selves to it every day.
